For those who grew up in California, there was a PBS-affiliated channel called KCET. I have grown up watching PBS and KCET Kids! I've watched Arthur, Sesame Street, Wordgirl, Cyberchase, Dragon Tales, and lots more! By the end of 2010, PBS was no longer part of KCET station. However, PBS returned to affiliate with KCET once more in 2019 and it is still running to this day.
KCET Kids (similar to PBS Kids programming) is a children's block where it airs various PBS Kids in the morning to the afternoon. It runs from Monday to Friday but on occasions, it would air on the weekend. We are introduced with some bumpers and idents that feature PBS Kids characters including Dot and Dash. However, every bumper is focused on the main mascot of KCET Kids called, Captain Infinity.
Captain Infinity was first revealed in an early KCET Kids website back in early 2001 according to Archive.org. In some sources, Captain Infinity debuted in various bumpers in July 2002. Most bumpers from PBS Kids can be seen on Youtube during programming breaks. However, there was one bumper that seemed to be lost. This bumper is about the origin of Captain Infinity and according to some editor at PBS Kids Wiki, "There's a promo during one of the program breaks where she's a normal everyday kid from the planet Imaginarius trying different glasses until she tries the Infinity glasses that transforms her into a supercharged super kid." This bumper is really rare and hard to find, while watching PBS Kids. bumpers.
If you have seen KCET Kids bumpers or you might have remembered it and it became lost? Let me know in the comments!
