Hi. I'm looking for information about an unknown puppet show series based on "One Thousand and One Nights" that you claim was produced in West Germany. I first learned of this puppet show from a book that introduced foreign animation broadcast in China in the 80s and early 90s.
This puppet show was previously broadcast in China in 1983, and the article in the image on the right provides a description of this work, which we have translated.
"One Thousand and One Days" is the first foreign animated television series that can be documented to have been translated by Guangdong TV. According to the newspaper records of that year, the names of the nine episodes introduced were "The Miser's Slipper", "The Judge Cocoons Himself", "The Faithful Alua", "The Story of the Flying Box", "The Wise Man Ashtead", "The Iron Candlestick", "The Cunning Woman of Cairo City", "The Eight Strange Things of Kozvin City" and "The Fool's Race" in that order. The source of this puppet show was an English version imported from the TRANSTEL TV program exchange and translation center in Germany, but the produce company of the original version is still unknown (its titles appear in French and Spanish Galician, which directly translate to "1001 days of stories"). In April 1985, the Tianjin People's Fine Arts Publishing House released a ten-volume adaptation of the comic strip using the film as its source material.
The title "Contos dos 1001 dias" in the article appears to be Galician. I have tried to search for this title but did not come up with any results. I also searched for the puppet show of One Thousand and One Nights in German, but found nothing there either.
