So as some of you know I have made big progress in finding some local songs I had been wondering about for years. I have talked to local radio djs, local musicians of all kinds and have found almost all of the local songs I was looking for. However, one mysterious song has alluded identification in spite of it's strange lyrics and the people I've talked to. There is a possibility then that is not local. However, if it isn't, it's still nowhere to be found. And despite years of searching lyrics sites and music forums, still remains a mystery. I nicknamed it 'The Island Song'.
I've expanded my search to try and contact people and music stations that are in my province and not just in my local area to no avail yet. The strange thing about the song is the lyrics are very unique by now you'd think someone would have recognized it. I am 100% positive I got the lyrics right and all the other songs that were found on my list of music I'm searching for I got the lyrics right even after not hearing them for like 15 years. I vividly remember the lyrics to the chorus of this song it's bugged me for so long. The lyrics are also similar to a famous song.
The lyrics: "I live on a rock, I feel like an I-islandddd"
The song: It was a mid tempo, 2000s Alternative rock song with a male singer. I even remember a dramatic symbol hit and pause after he says "I live on a rock" he also stutters on "Island" to make the word longer hence the "I-islandddd" bit.
When I heard it: late 2000s/early 2010s, on my local radio station.
It's obviously not "I Am a Rock" by Simon And Garfunkel. It unfortunately has similar lyrics. This song was faster and more modern. (modern as in 2000s rock lol) I still think it's local but either way if it isn't it's still a big mystery as despite knowing key parts of the lyrics and the way the song goes and searching in both local and non local circles there has been no results. The only thing that ever comes up is the Simon And Garfunkel song. But I know for a fact that isn't it. I'm not holding my breath that anyone here will be able to find it or has ever heard it, but I more so just want to let you all know about this mysterious song and how it just seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. If any update happens I will let you know. Until then, "The Island Song" remains a mystery. One that has been a mystery for over 15 years of searching and wondering!
