Hello! I am new to the forum, and you'll probably see me around for a bit. I'll be posting about topics from my country/area (Spain and Catalonia) that I find interesting or that I legitimately would love to see found.
Today I am bringing in attention to a kids programming block from Catalonia called Club Super 3. This specific lost media is about its original incarnation, from 1991 to 2006. I think even people that aren't from Catalonia or understand catalan can get something out of this, due to the extreme 90s and early 2000s aesthetic of the programming block.
While there is a lot related to this programming block, like a ton of anime and cartoon dubs in catalan, I will be specifically talking about the original content of the programing: The sketchs acted out by the original characters, and the recordings of the different editions of La Festa Dels Supers.
On one hand, let's talk about the sketchs. There have been many kinds of them, but I think they can be separated in three categories: Plot, public participation, and show promotions. While some of the show promotions were fun, specially for the cheesy green screen effects, I am mostly interested in the plot sketchs and the public participation ones.
Let's start with the easier ones but harder to classify. Public interaction sketchs were ones where characters would showcase drawings and cards sent in by the members of Club Super 3, named "Supers". Probably the most well known section of this was the phone calls to Tomatic, where he would answer questions from the viewers. A lot of these were created, and thankfully many of them are avalible, but knowing exactly how many were produced, as well as the card ones, is nearly impossible.
Here's one of the Tomatic segments, seemingly from the early years: www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7CEcRvDB9Y
On the other hand we have the plot sketchs, which follow a relatively simple timeline of events for the characters in the block. Again, it's hard to know how many of these exists, but we thankfully know some, if not all of the plot points created for the show. Here's the ones I could find by researching and also taking a look at a book called "Generacio Tomatic" about the programming block:
- Beginning and presentation of characters youtu.be/SLmOQ-0R-OU (Not all characters are showcased here, but most of the main ones are. Flash, Top and Buff first appearances are missing, as well as Tomatic's)
- Nets is kidnapped by Megazero (Meganets plotline)
- Planet Morf, and the book of enigma
- Corni the dinosaur
- Petri's nightmares (Return to Morf)
- Morfing/Netsolia plotline
- Noti finds Megazero's hideout (Moire's palace)
- Tomatic's long life elixir
- Noti's data center
- Tomatic becomes digital
- Search for the Isis book
- Superma's fall (Club Megazero + Senyor Nano)
- Ruinosa, Petriobreta, and Lluneta's debut (They all appeared around the same time)
- Nets transforms into Bibiana (+ Jordi's debut)
- Noti's last report
- Petriclone's saga + Petrikrust's debut
- Lemak + SuperE debuts (Both characters apeared around the same time)
- Ruinosa's beauty clinic (Petrikrust slow change into Krust) youtu.be/maF86bu4iZA
- Bibiana becomes Kes
- Ending (Ruimaquina Capgiradora (I know this plotline lasted for the very last month of this incarnation of the show. The very end of it is found)) youtu.be/DDI1h7yEzHc
Those are all the main plotlines I could find by research. Not sure if there's any more.
Here's a playlist with a few skits and more from over the years on Youtube: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuspNhUEXcpBB7j9RLo6Gze3GIFrGO13E
Now, related to the search of the sketchs, it's also a different one: The search for the La Festa Dels Supers recordings.
la Festa Dels Supers is a real life event that happened in Barcelona every year, where the end of an established plotline for that event was finished. The original Super 3 events were from 1996 to 2005. I am not sure of there were any specific plots created for the events from 1996 to 1999, since I couldn't find any information on them, but the events from the 2000 to 2005 all had different plots.
Usually these events were showcased on TV, with the characters interacting with the people waiting to go inside, as well as showing the main event. While most if not all of the second incarnation events are avalible, these ones aren't. I have only been able to find a few clips online for some of the years. This is probably where the most of the lost media for Club Super 3 is.
Now, when it comes to where we could search, the most obvious one is home recordings, which is where most of the avalible media of the era comes from.
It's also very possible that TV3 (The television that airs the programming)'s archive has all, if not most of the media. They have released clips before on their Twitter account, as well as special programming dedicated to the history of Club Super 3. However, it's nearly impossible they will ever release everything sketch, due to the nature of having to digitalize it all twitter.com/ArxiuTV3CR
On the other hand it is very possible that the actors that played the characters may have some content themselves, too. Petri's actor, Ramon Peris-March, showed a sketch in an interview he gave to the Twitch show La Nit Friki youtu.be/ETTQKCZseao
Still, I would like to bring awareness to the topic, since it's one that means a lot to me. This programming block was basically my childhood and what introduced me to anime. Even if not everything is found, I would still love for more content to be discovered and archived!
