So, im sure a lot of us are familiar with the classic Calvin and Hobbes, a comic strip about a trouble making boy who imagines his stuffed tiger coming to life. But there's one thing that I can't find about this strip.
A long time ago, when I was around 7(keep in mind this story will be a bit fuzzy from now on, but its still something I mostly remember), I got interested in the comics and I ordered as many of the comic compilations several times over from my library, and after a wave of nostalgia for the series, I remembered a particularly grim topic for the strip. Calvin and Hobbes has been known to tackle some heavy topics, like running away from home, or heck, they time they got robbed. But this is a bit different. Here's where my fuzzy synopsis starts.
The storyline starts with Calvin on his way to school, and he realizes he forgot something when hes dropped off by his mother(I don't remember what, though, and for what purpose, as Calvin rides the bus most of the time) So the mom goes back and gets it. But she never comes back. When Calvin comes home from school by the bus, his mom isn't there. Instead, it's his father(I don't remember if it was him or not, but he's the only named adult in the series besides Calvin's mom, his uncaring teacher, and Uncle Max, who only appeared for less than half a years worth of comics or so. It nay sound like a lot, but it was a weekly strip cartoon, so it was only brought a new strip once a week). His father tells Calvin that his mother got into a car accident, and that she's in the hospital, with some relatively minor injures. Calvin, being a kid, starts crying, as he was the one who had his mom go in the car in the first place. His dad reassures him about the situation, and by the next strip or two, his mom is back and things go back to the norm.
Now, my memory of this is a bit fuzzy. Heck, it might not even be Calvin and Hobbes. I saw no records of this being on a wiki, despite this being in an compilation book. What might've happened if it isn't Calvin and Hobbes was that it belonged to other comic series. My mom was getting other comic series for me to read, like Big Nate. However, I do specifically remember that the protagonist is a child, the car wreck happens to someone close to him because they had to go get something he forgot, and they came back after the storyline ended. It may be a hard find, but I would really appreciate it if someone found what this elusive strip storyline really is.
