We can think of this as our music and media thread. Are you listening / watching anything neat right now? Tell us about it! Maybe you can tip us off to something new.
recently ive been divulging into the artist Miya Lowe (aka evaboy, figure skater, and formly Brendan Lowe before he transitioned) an artist who first tapped into breakbeats with a mix of breakcore and footwork for his debut album chaos garden under the evaboy name
he later would tapped into phonk with a lofi and hyperpop aesthetic to it. dropping breakbeat style he did entirely since he didnt like it anymore. its pretty evident with his latest figure skater record and his self titled album which he stated would be his last proper album
Listening to a female artist who really should've been bigger-Myra, she was on the soundtrack to several Disney films(and her music was also featured in an episode of "So Little Time")here's her cool cover of Dancing in the Street:
"Strange" by Dakota, found about her thanks to Zoey 101, this song was played when Zoey is cleaning out her dorm and getting ready to go to a boarding school in the UK(because she thinks Chase wants her to go, long story)this song fit so perfectly
This song was originally supposed to be in GTA 3(and was even featured in some commercials for it and Tom Novy was originally a DJ for one of the radio stations in the game but that was all dummied out)but was taken out at the last minute, too bad as it's a pretty good song

Oh, man. I got so excited when I saw Dakota because I thought you were referring to this band for a moment. I only found out about them a few months ago via Todd in the Shadows when they were originally performing as The Buoys - which blew my mind to find out they were from my neck of the area and I had no idea.

Oh I know all about the band Dakota, I found out about them after watching a video from Bennett The Sage.
some of best of best punk bands showcasing the best that came out of the hardcore punk scene throughout the 80s. rough sound quality but the rawness of the sound were there. chicago was absolutely the best at this but other places like los angeles and boston deserve credit too.
