Hello! Thank you for allowing me to use your forums.
I would like to ask a question concerning attempting to find a lost episode of 'the Hong Kong Beat', a 1978 BBC police documentary about the Royal Hong Kong Police. As far as I know the BBC only showed this documentary a couple of times. It never had a home release, although its theme song was released as a vinyl, which I find very odd. The documentary apparently broke many barriers, as it showed the RHKP in a negative light and was one of the first documentaries to show real police work. I would like to find this lost episode as I have a massive interest in the RHKP and their activities.
These are the eight episodes freely available and they have all been compiled into a playlist, albiet in very low quality (I presume they were taped): www.youtube.com/watch?v=datZu9zyRqU
Even though the original uploader is absolutely adamant that there are only 8 episodes, I have found evidence that points to a lost first episode - 'Detective': genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/aaaf68c4be20484fbff02b8e76db5f75
Here are also some further discussion I have found on the Hong Kong Beat, presumably before the episodes were uploaded to YouTube: gwulo.com/hong-kong-beat-police-bbc
Has anybody seen or heard of this documentary? Could anybody help with this search, or point me into the right direction for finding it?
