I made 2 posts in the past of the 1980 Parade in specific, but I decided to talk about the others. 1953 was when the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) started airing the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Since that year, it has been broadcast annually. However, quite a bunch are missing. Of the parades aired before 1981, only 2 have surfaced online in full (1959 and 1976). The others are considered Lost to Partially Lost. The ones lost are pretty special, as they marked the debut of important Parade staples. For example, 1968 was the first Parade with Snoopy, and 1965 was the first with Underdog. Other notable lost Parades included 1956 (the year all balloons crashed, with Mighty Mouse collapsing live on NBC), 1971 (where no balloons flew that year) and 1977 (the first year with parade director Jean McFaddin). Of the Parades, the one most complete is 1980, having about 30 minutes missing (excluding commercials). It does turn out the ending to 1962, 1966, 1969, 1972 and 1973 can be purchased online, but they're just the audio. On that note, no one bothered to purchase any of them. If anyone has these Parades, please leave a reply, it'd be great to have more Parades found (since 1982 was recently found).
