The British Virtual Band Gorillaz (created by former Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Tank Girl artist Jamie Hewlett) has been pretty big in recent times with the impending release of their new record. Yet, something doesn't sit right just yet.
The Band's third album, Plastic Beach, was a commercial failure. This caused the album to be left unfinished. For the people that don't know how it was left unfinished, apparently about 80 songs, and a grand total of 3 hours of music were planned to be spanned across 3 albums. I have searched around the Internet for anything relating to cut Plastic Beach songs, and I have come off with the list of the most prominent things I have found,
* = Was reused for another project, listed after song title.
** = Track has no known title
*** = Unconfirmed title
**** = Rumored
That covers around 28 out of 80 tracks cut from Plastic Beach, but there is more. In 2007, work on a new project from Damon and Jamie started. This project evolved into Plastic Beach and was entitled "Carousel." This project featured 70 more written songs (one recycled into Plastic Beach, known as "Sweepstakes.") The Album was not under the Gorillaz name, and was later aborted for Plastic Beach. One bit of Carousel has been floating around the Internet, but nothing else is really known about this project.
A quick little thing to add here, unrelated to Plastic Beach, more related to Demon Days. Rumor has it, Storyboards for a music video for "We Are Happy Landfill," a Gorillaz TV Show and a Gorillaz Movie exist. Along with ANOTHER aborted album entitled "Happy Landfill" has some demos floating around.
