Seaman's Furniture and Badcock Furniture (get your mind out of the gutter) ran a few ads during the 80s that I have not been able to find. They had nothing but white text vertically scrolling over a black background (though occasionally pictures of the items would be shown), aurally accompanied only by a deadpan guy's droning, drawling voice reading the text on screen. At least one of the ads was something along the lines of "We're closing every Seaman's Furniture this Friday to mark up all the prices for this week's Memorial Day sale." Both of my parents have witnessed the commercials, and one of Dad's friends kept getting annoyed by the commercials as the narrator kept bleeding into everything.
