You saw the title. I KNOW this sounds like a creepypasta but I swear on my life it is not.
When I was in elementary school, my Special Ed teacher read us this picture book about kids in a Special Ed class. I don't know if *every* kid in the book had a learning disability, but they were all disabled in some way. There may or may not have been a kid in a wheelchair.
The class was building some sort of project. I can't remember what it was (maybe some sort of bottle rocket??) but building it was the main plot of the book. Halfway through the story, the kid I mentioned in the title defends the Special Ed class from some bullies on the playground. The thing about this kid was that he had gigantism (Think André the Giant). Since he was bigger than the bullies, he managed to scare them off.
...And in a few pages, the Special Ed teacher announced that the kidhad grown too big for his own body.
He was dead.
The whole class had lost the will to continue work on the project, until one girl spoke up. She said that they should continue the project in his memory. I remember on the final page they had written the kid's name on the project.
The whole book stuck out to me because of just how out of left field it all was. We never had anything else like that read to us ever again, which just kind of makes me go... where did this even come from?
I was in 3rd or 4th grade when I had it read to me so it must've been published before 2013-2014. I have looked everywhere for this book and I cannot find it.
