So a while back there was an original abc Family Matters broadcast from the season 2 premiere of Rachel's Place on Youtube. The recording cut off before the second hour, as the second ep "Torn Between Two Lovers" originally aired with it. Does anyone know if the Youtube version of ep 1 is anywhere, or the original with both eps? Ep 1 had a cold open with Urkel coming out with toilet paper stuck to him, and a whole scene where Urkel talks Rachel into buying the diner he burned down in the ep.
There is actually a new complete series DVD release of this show coming later this month, hopefully it will have the original non-Urkel cold open for Rachel's First Date and the original uncut versions of both of those season 2 episodes.
Geez they did their best to make sure Judy isnt featured in any of the pics
Yeah that's odd, i've always wanted to own this show on DVD myself, so i'll see about saving up to get the set for myself to see if it has those episodes uncut.

I have the first four seasons on DVD but the first 5 episodes don’t use the original What a wonderful world intro, ep 4 doesn't show the original cold open, and the s2 premiere isn’t its one hour version.

oh I know, i'm hoping the upcoming complete series DVD release fixes that.
The things that aren't preserved are music videos, games, and anything that was actually good.
No not ALL TV shows are "Extremely easy" to find that's not even remotely close to being true, there's a ton of lost TV shows that haven't been seen since they first premiered(I.E. early TBS sitcoms like Rocky Road)shows that weren't reran very often(The Jersey) and shows that either had unreleased episodes(Kirk, Movie Stars) or weren't released period(Murder Police, The Ortegas)and some shows had their soundtracks changed for home releases(Dawson's Creek, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Sister Sister, Felicity, Everwood). That's not even getting into old shows with lost episodes(original Dr Who)due to the tapes missing.
I'm well aware of the DVD releases of the show, problem is they don't contain all the original versions of episodes, Rachel's First Date originally had a different opening without Urkel(once the show became popular and Urkel was introduced season 1 episodes had new opening with Urkel tacked on for later TV airings)and the season 1 DVD had the original non-Urkel openings for every episode except that one for some bizarre reason and the original season 2 premiere airing with the following episode had extra footage that hasn't been seen since it's original airing(it was a similar deal with episodes of Full House and That 70s Show and I believe the season 2 premiere of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as well).

You can just write to the authors or look at the bonus material, sounds like a publisher fuckup more than anything.

Rocky road has people you can ask, jersey has people archiving it you can ask, "unreleased episodes" can be requested from whoever has the ip, murder police never existed, "the ortegas" isn't a show, the "home releases" are not the Netflix version, and shows from 80 years ago are irrelevant.
All of these are easy to find and every worthless TV series is always kept alive by the ip if nothing else.
