I'm not really sure if this topic fits this board, but I also don't think it fits the main lost media board or the unidentified media board.
John Rawls was an American moral and political philosopher. He was probably best known for his 1971 work A Theory of Justice and for his use of the moral reasoning device "The Veil of Ignorance". It dawned on me recently that there doesn't seem to be any video footage of John Rawls at all. There are a few photos of him online (though not as many as some of his contemporaries) and I was able to find at least twenty-three audio recordings of his lectures, but no video footage. Rawls wrote in the latter half of the 20th century, and there is video footage of many other philosophers from this era (Isaiah Berlin, Karl Popper, Foucault, etc.) and there also exists footage of those from earlier in the century such as Bertrand Russell or Jean-Paul Sartre. Even those who don't have footage at least have some sort of audio interview online, such as Robert Nozick. Rawls doesn't seem to have any audio interviews. Rawls met with Bill Clinton several times, yet I couldn't even find footage of Rawls and Clinton. Considering Rawls only died in 2002, it's very odd that there seems to be no video footage of him online. Did video of John Rawls ever exist at all?

I discovered that that Rawls received a National Medal of Arts & Humanities in 1999 from President Bill Clinton. Other recipients included Jim Lehrer and Steven Spielberg, among others. There is a video of the ceremony online, so I watched the introduction to see if Rawls was present. Unfortunately, it appears that his wife Margaret Rawls attended in his stead. I'd imagine that John Rawls perhaps did not like public attention?

I'll be frank with you, man. We're archivists, not private detectives.
