Greetings, my name is JD, I'm a writer for Skeptical Inquirer and a fan of lost media. I've been trying for years to figure out the name of a cartoon movie I saw in the late 90's early 2000's, probably between 1995-2000. It was most likely either on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon as those were the channels I mostly watched. I had Satellite DirectTV when I was a kid, so it wasn't on a cable channel. All I remember is that there was some kind of black mist or fog, I seem to recall it was like pen ink, and I believe it was changing the world. I seem to recall there being either actual photographic images or rotoscoped people and buildings, but I can't be sure of that. Other than the fog/mist, the only other thing that sticks out in my mind was there was a sequence with some sort of zeppelin or air ship, and a king or viking character that was farting, and I thought that was hilarious as a kid. I seem to recall finding the whole thing weird with a kind of humor that I didn't really "get" sort of like as an American watching Canadian or other foreign cartoons.
Any help in tracking this down would be most appreciated. I am skeptical that it appeared on Cartoon Network- I've looked through all their more obscure programming blocks and not found anything that resembled my description.
It may be Ferngully, the villain was Hexxus a organisim that gets its powers from pollution, he changed into different forms like smoke, sludge, and more ghostly body:
Tho Ferngully didn't had a farting king, maybe you're confusing that part with another cartoon.
