Sounds like one of the most f'd up movies to ever be created!
Sorry I can't help on this one unless you have a bit more details. Is it American actors? European? Japanese?

sadly i have no information on the nationality of the movie due to the fact it wasnt myself who watched it

however id rule out anything thats japanese that isnt dubbed as my friend wasnt exactly a lover of reading and writing and i doubt he'd sit and watched something subbed

would also rule out 'european' (like french with subtitles or w.e) so likely american/british or at least english speaking...again unless its dubbed

Ok so, since Human Centipede 2: Centipede Harder is ruled out due to the date, I have some possible guesses, but I'm still looking so this just a hunch.

I'm kind of sure that this movie was NOT made in the 2000's, despite you guys being kind of married to that date. There was a literal flood of splatter movies and gore movies akin to Saw but with lower production values made in the late 1960's and through the 1970's. Wizard of Gore and Blood Feast being two obvious ones but also things like I Spit On Your Grave, Last House on Dead End Street, I Drink Your Blood, Snuff, etc. And in the UK, they were called "video nasties" and heavily restricted, meaning they kind of became cult classics.

So if this movie WAS from the United Kingdom, my best guess is that it was one of these "video nasty" movies and likely made in the 60's and 70's like the ones mentioned above. Keep in mind, ALL those movies I mentioned involved things like disembowelment, decapitation, cannibalism, satanism and all were, basically, Slasher movies.

I genuinely doubt that this movie was just some kind of false memory your friend had, and since it was before Human Centipede 2 him misremembering that is highly unlikely. Also, just a sidenote, I've seen all the Scream movies, the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies, and roughly 98% of every Slasher movie made since the 90's that was theatrically released. And a few that weren't. The only thing involving a hook hand or even a hook would be I Know What You Did Last Summer, because Scream never had ANY scene like what you're describing, and Ghostface always uses a knife. So like I said, him seeing some other movie and misremembering is unlikely. And I'm not one to really believe a lot in "fever dreams" and false memories, because they're actually RARER than just LOST movies. The circumstances to create such a bizarre nightmare would be...absurd. Also just making it up is so fucked up it's even more absurd.

Thing is, the chances of it being a false memory or some sort of dream is incredibly low. From my experience, there have been more instances of incredibly rare Lost Media or unidentified or previously unknown media then there ever has stuff like false memories.

The only "false memory" type thing that I could possibly even remember was the Evil Farming Game, really everything else that people really been looking for (Cracks, Clock Man even stuff I was looking for) it was all real, there were tiny details that were different but it was all real.

I found something I was looking for for literally a decade really, LONG before I ever knew what Lost Media was or ever used TOMT, and it was at a point I thought it was a dream. Then someone met me on Reddit and there it was, a one for one match.

I've seen things that people were looking for crazier than an old slasher, and again they had perfect matches. The chances of film having a really limited release is infinitely higher than the chances of some sort of perfect storm creating this false memory or mass hallucination. Actually a perfect example of this would be this book, Super Giles, that sounded like some sort of hoax or troll or creepypasta if you just heard it about it, about a boy that turned into a gas pump (no really!) but when you actually look for it you see that not only is it a real book it matched literally word for word with people had described previously.

So again, I guess what I'm saying is realistically speaking I would say that this is probably some kind of very obscure 1970s maybe late 60s splatter film probably like one of the video nasties, possibly dubbed. An example: there was one in particular that was released called Grim Reaper that had a completely different title overseas, where a man literally tore his own intestines out and ate them (...spoiler warning) so what you're describing is entirely within the spectrum of that kind of film.

I would not be surprised if something like that happened here, and you know you need only watch 5 seconds of I Spit On Your Grave to see how that would be a film that they would release at the time, so just from some of the way that you describe it I would imagine that it was probably something like an Italian film that was dubbed or something like that and that's why it seems to be "lost".

It probably isn't lost per se, it's probably it's just a very obscure film that was dubbed, either that or it was literally made in the United Kingdom.

For example Last House on Dead end Street had a completely different original cut that was literally re-done when they released it so it's entirely possible that this could have been some sort of uncut version of a film that was released without that scene normally in it prossibly. In fact I would say I'm certain it didn't come from the 90s.

I could see it coming from the '80s but given the content...it just really wouldn't have been the 90s, that wasn't the kind of horror films they made then.

I could see it coming from the 2000s but the only thing that kind of matches up with that would be Human Centipede, Fertile Ground or Inside, so again I just have to kind of lean towards this was one of those 1970s gore movies. That's just my theory.
