My sister started to talk about this time she remembered seeing tiki animatronics and at first I wasn’t sure what she was talking about, but then I had this vague memory of what she was talking about. We also discussed it with our mom, and she suggested that we saw a special exhibit at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. We went to the Indianapolis Children's Museum around 2011-2013 sometime when it was warm (probably spring or summer). The exhibit was most likely temporary and is no longer there.
There are 4 animatronics. One looked like Medusa and her hair and mouth moved. One had a flat stone head and bushy eyebrows, it’s mouth and eyebrows moved, also had realistic eyes. Another one had a tiki guy big fists pounding on a drum, fist move and his mouth. Big stone head (looked like an Easter island statue) with realistic eyes, just moved his mouth, don’t think he moved his eye.
All animatronics could move there mouths and could talk.
The animatronics were not right next to each other, they were in different sections of the exhibit. The exhibit was fairly dark with barely any lighting. When you complete all there riddles they let you go to the next area. Stone textured, everything is stone textured. Something glowed to indicate you could move onto the next area. The animatronics talked to people and sang songs when you completed the puzzle.
After you complete all the puzzles you’ll be brought to the last room with all 4 of the animatics and they all of them sing a song.
This is the order the animatronics appear in from first to last:
1. Busy eyebrow tiki
2. Stone head
3. Medusa
4. Tiki with the drums
5. All animatronics
I would love to have some sort of picture or video of the exhibit, but I can’t even find the existence of it in text form. I was writing some of details down as my sister was saying them, so if something doesn’t make sense, please ask.
