Hey all. I've been into lost media for years, and this is my first post here. There's something that's been eating me up for forever now. I've tried finding this for months, but no results. I'm confident this wasn't a dream, false memory, or anything of the sort. Basically, I remember years ago seeing a video on YouTube of someone playing a video game. I think it was PewDiePie, UberHaxorNova, or someone similar. This was around the early to maybe mid 2010s. I haven't seen the video or anything of this game in years, but I still remember the details decently well.
It was a first person game where you played as some guy lost in a dark area. It was very hard to see. There were sparse trees and large rocks you could hide behind. The ground was mostly rock as well. I remember bits where the player had to jump from a broken bridge across a large gap. The main gimmick of the game was that since you couldn't see, you needed something to light the way. In this case, there were small, glowing animals walking around. They were similar in proportions to Furbies, to give you an idea to what they looked like. One I remember had straight ears like a rabbit and perpetually closed eyes. You could pick up the creatures and carry one so you could see better, and the rest would follow you like you were their protector or something. You could also throw them so you could take them across gaps with you. The main threat were these giant shadow monsters that chase you all the time if they heard or saw you. They could also eat the glowing animals. I don't remember what the shadow creatures looked like as well, but I think one may have been either a large humanoid or a quadrupedal monster of some sort. Whenever they showed up, the screen would shake around as they moved. There might have also been a blurring effect, but I could be mixing it up with Amnesia.
That's all I can really remember. If there was any bigger story, I don't remember it. I'm not sure if this post will help my search, or if this was actually real, but I remember so well and vividly that it couldn't have been a dream. Hopefully I can get some help with closing off this mystery from my childhood.
