Woohoo my tape arrived and it has all of the deleted scenes! Man I can't describe how it feels to finally see these scenes after all these years of reading about them online, it's so cool to hear more of Michael J Fox, Don Ameche and Sally Field. These scenes make an already great film even better, even the ones that don't really add to the plot.
Also turns out I was slightly off about that one scene of the barbecue-Bob actually decides not to go so they don't have to wait another week to visit the animals, but another deleted scenes With Kate and Frank does explain why the animals would try to go home-because with their senses they would think home was on the other side of the mountain instead of hundreds of miles away(we also find out in the deleted scene that the family lives in Fresno).
I love the scene with the old man(whose name we actually get to find out-Quentin)playing his sax, it's a beautiful scene with some lovely filmography, and the scene of Chance getting washed off was pretty funny(afterwards he ends up popping a balloon).
The film flows even better with the scenes that explain the plot like the car ride and Kate realizing that the second part of the note she left for Frank fell onto the floor so he never noticed it.
Out of all my lost media hunts this one has been the most personal to me, i'm so happy to finally have crossed this off my list and I can't wait to share it with everyone on here. Now I just have to find someone to rip this tape for me.
If someone on this forum has the equipment and know-how to rip tapes i'll be happy to send the tape your way.
