A lot of dutch people will recognize the name "Ernst, Bobbie en de Rest". It is a well-known and still populair kids show, with the title characters still touring in shows today. All episodes of this show are uploaded on the official youtube channel of the same name. So why this thread? You might ask. Well the truth is, that series that so many people know is actually a reboot. Thats right! There is an original! This original version had the exact same name and actors as the reboot, and premiered in 1987 on regional tv channel "Lokatel". It was a monthly series, but the final total of episodes is currently unknown, even the dutch wikipedia doesn't mention the original in the slightest. The series ran from 1987 to 1990.
So what proof is there of its existence? Well, it was mentioned in an interview with Erik van Trommel and Gert-Jan van den Ende, the actors and rights holders of Ernst and Bobbie. Luckily for us, a small promo does exist on youtube; www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KXwYFwY754. This promo aired, according to the title, in 1988 and shows us one of the songs (the reboot featured a new song in every episode) and some shots of episodes at the end, but not much more than that. No footage of the series has been found apart from this promo.
Now you see, I am not that great at delving into lost media, I did really try my best to find it, mailing Erik and Gert-Jan, with no response. I even mailed the company that currently owns all Lokatel content (since Lokatel went out of business) but to no avail. I want to find this series and see the original version of a series that shaped my childhood. I hope some people can find some good leads.
