I posted this in the Lost Media Wiki Fans Facebook group a while back:
The hit children’s show Sesame Street has many different co-productions around the world. There’s a South African version, called Takalani Sesame, that first aired from July of 2000 to sometime in 2009, then went on hiatus from 2009-2013. The show is still on today, and is even making new episodes, but most of the series is lost media. As a matter of fact, lots of international Sesame Street co-productions (and even early seasons of the American Sesame Street) can be considered lost media. However, Takalani Sesame stands out to me because it’s still such a popular show in South Africa but most of it has never been released to the public through home videos/DVDs or on the internet. I found these promotional posters for the show’s launch, there used to be some clips on Sesame Workshop’s website in the late 2000s, and a few full episodes from the 6th season are available on YouTube, but that’s about it. Takalani Sesame’s social media pages recently released a few clips from the first episode in honor of the shows 21st anniversary, but there’s not much else from the original 2000-2009 series. If anyone knows anything or wants to work with me to find some information, then please let me know.
