I have seen multiple memes that use an image of a red imp/demon reading a book (mostly on the Brazilian Portuguese speaking side of the internet); however, I cannot find the original source of said image.
Since the image is usually found through memes, it is very hard to find a version that doesn’t have a caption obscuring any part of the image. I did manage to find two that would be the closest to an unedited version of it, though:
First is this version that was attached to a post on a religious Blogspot page. Notice how there’s a black bar at the bottom, implying that it may have been taken from a meme post, but the caption was edited out. Also notice that there’s something written on the book’s spine (kind of looks like it is “literature” once the image is flipped).
hmmm...... you could try using tineye to reverse-image-search the original photo
I tried doing that, and according to TinEye, the first time the image appeared on the internet was on this Blogger profile (the page exists, but the current version won't load the image since the file's URL is dead, that's why I linked an archived version), as a profile picture. It seems that this isn't actually the first instance of the image online, though. This old website about occultism and conspiracy theories also used the image before that guy, albeit it has their watermark on it.
Neither "Rui" nor the "grandesmisterios" website seem to be the actual owners of the image, as it is extremely compressed in both instances. None of them indicate the image's original source either. At this point, I'm inclined to believe the image didn't originate from the internet, but rather from an old PC game, book, or maybe even a painting. I'll see what else I can find.
