When I was probably between six and nine years old, I was given a video tape that did not come in a box and probably didn't have an official name-sticker on it (it would have had a blank label with something written on it in pen). The tape contained a long video that I can't remember the name of at all. The video was intended for young children, and it featured a narrator reading children's books out loud while the pictures from the book were shown on the screen. I can't remember whether the narrator was a guy or a lady. The video didn't strike me as being part of a long television series, so I think that it was either stand-alone, or one video from a short series of video tapes. I can't remember any of the children's books that were featured in the video apart from the one that I will describe here. Obviously, I cannot remember the title of the book, either.
The main character of the story was a girl who I think was meant to be a pre-teen. She had terrible table manners that disgusted her parents. But while that girl was a messy eater, there was a pig that lived nearby that had a clean nature and always ate without making a mess. I can't remember where the pig came from, but I don't think that it was the family's pet. The pig somehow found out about the family's house and wanted to eat there. The pig started walking on its hind legs, wearing clothes, and finally, started eating at the table with the girl's parents, who didn't seem to mind it. I can't remember whether the pig could talk, though. As for the girl, the book strongly implied that she literally transformed into a pig, or had become entirely pig-like mentally, because of her continuing her bad manners. She was consequently removed from her parents' property by animal control. So, the book ended with that bipedal pig taking that messy girl's place in the family, which seems really horrific for a book that was entirely intended for children.
As for the book's art style, I don't remember it in any meaningful detail, but I don't think that it was anything special. And as for the possibility that I still own the video tape; I highly doubt it, because many tapes have been thrown out by my family in recent years and I haven't bothered to keep track of which ones they were (which has already proven to be a mistake before).
Does this book sound familiar to anyone?
