Some people here may be familiar with the 1936 sound film adaptation of the story of Sweeney Todd; starring Tod Slaughter in the title role.

This version of the film has been found in a complete version, and is currently available on YouTube. However, there have been two earlier silent film adaptations of the story:
The earliest known one being made in 1926 in England, said to have run at 15 minutes in length. This version was said to have starred G.A. Baughan as Todd. It is the only fully lost film adaptation.
The second silent film attempt was made in 1928. This version is partially found; with some film deterioration towards the middle.
