A long time ago, on December of 2020, I did a research on a lost media of Bubsy the Bobcat himself. It's a lost game. Not sure if it's even a game. Probably a demo or just a project. It's called Bubsy III "No More Mr. Nice Guy!"
This project was supposed to be completed on Spring of 1996 by Accolade and Images Software. It was made for Sega Genesis, Sony PSX (PlayStation 1) and for Sega Saturn. In theory, it could to be a third game of the Bubsy series after Bubsy II (1994), judging by the title.
According to some evidence, the game concept was made by Mark Eyles. When he showed his concepts to Images Software, they liked it so much, that they immediately started developing. They were close to complete the game. However, they had one problem. They needed a publishing partner, but it seems, that nobody accepted it. So it was cancelled.
We only have three screenshots of its existence: the title screen, the script of codes and the description. They were posted in June 23rd 2016 on Nintendo Age by a user named steven78.
He first posted the screenshot of title screen at 2:57 a.m. and said: "Bubsy 3 do not know if this is a playable demo but this screen is in it."
Eight hours later, he posted two more screenshots (the script of codes and the description).
On December 31st 2020, I had a conversation with Mark Eyles through e-mail. He said, that he doesn't remember working with Bubsy. He said, that there could be two possibilities:
- either they are just referring to a discussion he had with someone at some point about game ideas, or
- it was some other game idea that they adapted for Bubsy.
That's how much information I could get. I tried to contact with steven78 and even Karl Jeffery (the guy, who established Images Software) but no success. However, I made a video about it. So here's how it went in details.
