Hello, this is my first post here. I remember playing a game like 3 or 4 years ago i'm still wanting to find.
Original Lost Media Discord messages:
- I've been wanting to find an Android game i played from like 2017-2018. It was a retraux japanese beat-em-up in a similar style to Final Fight, both gameplay-wise and graphics-wise. I think the player character's name was "Shikato" going off of a google-translated description, and enemies were things like yazuka members and other Japanese delinquents. The music was prerecorded midi. The game wasn't "full screen" like other Android games, instead having a small "frame" where the controls were located, as well as a clock and battery percentage for some reason. I think the first stage had you enter a building and the boss was located on a rooftop or balcony, being a fatter version of the generic enemies you fought throughout the first level. Does anyone know about this game, if possible?
- I remember a few enemies looking like Shingo Yabuki from KOF, but they were NOT sprite edits of him or any other KOF character. I also think one of the bosses was a "mirror match"-style doppelganger in a room similar to the first one in Double Dragon 3 on the NES, but 16 bit.
- The reason i cannot remember it's title is because it was entirely Japanese except for an abbreviation of the word "Version" as "Ver.". The same devs also made an endless runner featuring an old man whose main form of attack was ramming into people with his ass, done in a very similar art style.
R/TipOfMyJoystick Post:
Platform(s): Android
Genre: Sidescrolling Beat-em-up
Estimated year of release: Around 2016? I found the game around 2017-2018
Graphics/art style: 16-bit, pseudo-realistic style as is typical with most beat-em-ups. I think the app icon and title screen had a crude anime look to it though. Items were probably digitized, real-life food items (think Smash Bros or Tomodachi Life, but MUCH smaller to fit in with the other graphics). The stages probably looked like something out of River City Ransom EX or one of the arcade Double Dragon games, but they were NOT direct rips from any game.
Notable characters: Enemies were things like yazuka members and other Japanese delinquents. I think the first boss character was a fatter version of the enemies you fought throughout the stage they were in. Another, much later boss was a "mirror match"-style doppelganger fought in a room similar to the first one in Double Dragon 3 on the NES, but 16-bit. I thought some of the enemy characters looked like Shingo Yabuki from King of Fighters but they were NOT sprite edits of any character from that series.
Notable gameplay mechanics: As far as i know there weren't any real gameplay changes, but the GUI was formatted in a way unlike any other android game. It wasn't "full-screen" like other android games, but rather the controls were on a "frame" and it had a clock and the battery percentage for some reason.
Other details: The music was prerecorded midi. The first stage had you enter a building, and the "fat guy" boss was either on the rooftop or balcony of that building. I'd assume the main character was named "Shikato" because of what Google Translate gave as the app description, but the only actual English in the title was the word "Version", abbreviated as "Ver.". As far as i know it was NOT an emulated game that showed up on the Google Play Store, as the same devs did other games with the same quirks (Midi music, 16-bit graphics, and an odd GUI).
If anyone could clue me in on what game this COULD be by the details i have given, that'd be much appreciated.
