Hello you all
I've been reading for fun an old translated samizdat (that's basically an illegal underground newspaper in the Eastern Block, especially from the Soviet Union) entitled Chronicle of the Catholic Church in Lithuania. It was the 38th issue and in the article called "In the Soviet School" that I've read because of my interest in all education-related things. In it, whoever wrote it (it's a mishmash of many little texts into one from different people) denounces the then current situation of Lithuania in the 1980s with testimony from people living in seemingly legit real-life cases of religious discrimination of catholic children and teenagers in the Soviet Education system (mixed among...let's say...more debatable reactionnary anti-atheism, anti-religious criticism, anti-reason and anti-science rants I personally find to be up to cringe levels but that's past the point I wanted to make here and it's not the subject of my post).
How does it relate to lost media? Well in this issue there is in one paragraph mention of a movie that was supposedly shown in one class in Lithuania titled "Black Procession", here, I'll paste here the paragraph it is mentionned which gives us details about it (if the author is to be believed to begin with) :
Šaukėnai (R a y o n of Kelmė)
On February 30, 1979 a special showing of an anti-religious film entitled "Black Procession" was presented to school children at the Šaukėnai cultural center. The film contains clips secretly taken during recollections in Šiluva and Žemaičių Kalvarija. During these recollections, various communist agents burst into the church and film the people praying there. This is how they gather "material" for anti-religious propaganda, this is how the solemnity of the services is disrupted and the faithful distracted. It is worse than hooliganism!
In this instance, teachers Žeromskaitė and Spudaitė strictly ordered all their students to attend the film. After ushering the students into the hall, they guarded the doors to prevent anyone leaving.
At the beginning, an actor's voice was heard saying: "Come to me, men and women, and I will reveal to you my hatred of religion." Such a statement clearly shows what atheists rely on. They are not interested in truth, they trade in hatred for the church, religion, truth. Their science is lies.
The film made the assertion that religious people are bad. This is how the youth of Lithuania is exploited, this is how the conscience of believing children is confused!
I've found this that seems to correspond (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijuhMz6olsU) but it's 15 minutes long when this website (http://www.lfc.lt/lt/Page=AMovieList&ID=3829) show the movie to be 20 minutes long. It is the same movie? Or is it a recreation (once I thought I found an old movie when searching for something else, only for it to be a well made fan recreation pretending to be the real deal)? Where are the missing five minutes if it is the same movie? (That's my main question relating to lost medianess) Do we have a lost longer version to find on our hands? The site (lfc) is a movie preservation organization so I doubt they'd be make such a mistake as the movie length. Not knowing Lithuanian or Russian (whatever language the movie is made in), doesn't help me. Can someone help me in this probably very quick to solve case? If nothing else, people that'll read this and couldn't find it years ago will be rejoiced to having found it, having been uploaded to Youtube only very recently, even if partially complete. Sorry to waste your time on this.
