Okay so I know that this book exists because I used to have a physical copy of it but I let a friend borrow it and it was unfortunately ruined so that's what's pushing me to make this.
This was a mass-produced book (small, compact, sold at places like Walmart and Target) that I found in a Goodwill around 2017 - 2019. The cover was red and had a picture of a woman's silhouette looking into a window I believe. The title is either two or three words long and I don't know the author's name. That is all that I know about the physical aspects of the book.
Telling you what the book is about is a bit tricky because it's a little confusing. The book takes place in both the present and through flashbacks. In the present timeline, our main character (a woman) has been out of jail for ten years for the murder she committed as a teen. She gets a call though that someone connected to her as been murdered and she is the prime suspect. I believe that she goes on the run and tries to clear her name. In the flashbacks, our main character tells us about growing up near Hollywood or Beverly Hills and about the new friend she makes. She had a very popular sister who doesn't want to listen to her mother's strict rules and always snuck out. The main character finds out that the boy that her sister is sneaking out with is significantly older than her and abuses her. Our main character is eventually pulled into her sister's world and we find out that her sister "committed suicide". Main character finds her sister's suicide very suspicious and decides to investigate with her friend. Eventually main character and her friend determine that the older boyfriend killed main character's sister and main character is framed for his murder when he is found dead.
That is the gist of the book. Here are some random details that I remember but didn't know where to put in the summary:
And that is all that I know/can remember. I am willing to answer any questions and any or all clues or findings will be significantly appreciated!!

- When the main character goes to trial in the flashbacks, she is nicknamed "Mona Lisa" for the creepy smile she gives reporters.
- The main character's husband is revealed to be her brother at the end of the book.
- The main character worked for a "sexy company" that appealed to men wanting to cheat on their wife. She wrote fake profiles.
- The police come to interview the main character about the present day murder but she's washed her bloody clothes.
- The main character didn't commit the present day murder, the man's wife/mother did. The main character was there the night of the murder and found him bleeding out I believe, that is why her clothes are bloody. The man's wife/mother tries to kill the main character but the main character escapes or kills her.
- There is some weird twist at the end of the book about her living with homeless people or something like that and someone claiming to be her son or related to her in some way.
And that is all that I know/can remember. I am willing to answer any questions and any or all clues or findings will be significantly appreciated!!
