Okay, so we got some interesting lost media related news that just sprang up a few hours ago.
So, the first half for those who don't know. Martin Shkreli aka 'Pharma Bro' was arrested for security fraud back in 2017 and was ordered to pay of close to $7.4M for the charges stacked against him. His whole ordeal and history is shady and scummy, but you can find videos and podcasts covering his scandals if you want to know more. As for the second half, Shaolin is up there when it comes to lost pieces of music media, much like GSYBE's "All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amp Drooling" and Easy-E's "Heat Melts Cube". What makes Shaolin special is that only one copy of the album was produced and sold at auction for over $2M, to which Shkreli bragged about the purchase, stating he didn't have intention on listening to it and did it to "keep it from the people".
So, it looks like after the US government acquired the album following his arrest (and other possessions), it wasn't clear where it went. But, if this article is correct, it was sold to an anonymous individual for an undisclosed price for confidentiality reasons. So, it looks like the ball is rolling again. I wonder if anyone from the band has heard the news yet or if they were involved. I'm curious to know if whoever has it now is bound to the same rules Shkreli is or they're free to do whatever they choose with it. Let's hope if they have free control they don't hold out on us.
