Creepy Children's book about two cats living in an old house

Okay, so... There's a book I had as a child in the 80's that always kind of creeped me out, and I've so far been unable to track it down. I figured this was the best place to ask.
What I remember:
The book is about two old cats living in a rickety old house. I think the text talks about all the things in the house, and how the cats are old and set in their ways.
The time period would likely be 70's-80's. I'm going to guess late 70's. I remember the artwork being highly stylized, very sharp and angular, and used a lot of blue and purple in it. The cats had a look reminiscent of Katz from Courage the Cowardly Dog, only more detailed, and grumpier-looking. They are definitely old, very tall, raggedy, extremely thin anthropomorphic cats. I want to say one of them is wearing a shawl, but I'm not 100% on that.
Everything about their house is decrepit, and I think it was located near water, like next to a dock. The size of the book was fairly thin--I think it was one of those squarish-shaped flimsy paperback books that are barely thicker than a comic book.
If anyone knows or has any ideas, I'd love to be able to finally put this search to rest.
