While searching sold listings for Resident Evil 4's preview disc on the GameCube, I stumbled upon a listing that included four bonus/preview discs; one of which was a Soul Calibur 2 demo disc that I've never seen before. The four disc sold for a winning bid of $26, which is an already good price for the other three bonus disc, then you throw in a disc that never surfaces online, and this becomes an amazing deal. You could argue that since that listing sold for so cheap that this disc is worthless, but this is where it gets interesting. This listing is the only image of the disc itself I can find online, and the only other picture online I can find regarding it is the sleeve that the demo disc originally came in. Gamespy.com has a page that mentions the singular demo disc, but that's the only website I could find that refers to it. There's several reasons why searching for information on this singular kiosk/demo disc is hard:
1 - The PS2 release of Soul Calibur 2 included a bonus disc
2 - The PS2 release of Soul Calibur 2 has a demo disc that comes in a sleeve similar to this one, but is easy to find online.
3 - A demo of Soul Calibur 2 is on two other GameCube games that contain demos, "Nintendo GameCube Preview Disc" and "Interactive Multi-Game Demo Disc Version 11" Given most GameCube kiosk discs contained several games; which also include Soul Calibur 2, it's strange that a singular demo disc was produced.
I'm not certain if this demo is the exact same as the demo included on the other two demo discs, and am not sure if its ISO is online. The gameplay I've seen of Soul Calibur 2 demos on YouTube all appear to be from the two demo discs mentioned above. This disc seems to be incredibly rare given its lack of listings and overall documentation online. I asked the original seller of the eBay listing I found where they originally got the disc, and they said their friend used to work at a video game store, and gave them the disc, The listing where the sleeve's picture originates has since been deleted by eBay, so I'm not sure how much it would've sold for, or who sold it. I can't imagine many copies of this disc are out there at all given the other demo discs that exists, and how few have surfaced online If anyone has any information about this disc, or has one for sale, please let me know! I'm a big fan of the GameCube, and would love to add this elusive demo disc to my collection, alongside dumping the files to preserve this demo and compare it to the other demos that exist.
