I may be six years late to post this but 2015 saw the release of two Neon Genesis Evangelion box sets for its 20th Anniversary and the year the series takes place in.
The first and most well-known of these box sets is the Neon Genesis Evangelion Blu-ray BOX, which contains the remastered Renewal versions of the TV series and the Revival of Evangelion package film (that combines Death(true)² and The End of Evangelion into one film) alongside the theatrical versions of Death & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion, tons of bonus content, some of which were previously unavailable in the Revival DVD box sets, and many more. All in HD Blu-ray for the first time.
The second box set was the Archives of Evangelion DVD BOX that has the original TV broadcast versions of the TV series (complete with sponsor tags that would have been there for its original airing) and Evangelion: Death(true) & Rebirth, as well as some never-before-seen bonus content.
The previously lost media included in these two matching 2015 box sets are:
- Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (original theatrical release)
- Evangelion: Death(true) & Rebirth (TV release in WOWOW)
- Neon Genesis Evangelion: TV broadcast versions
- TV series first re-airing special programmes
- TV series second re-airing special programmes
- Hideaki Anno interview on Evangelion and Love & Pop
The original version of Death has much more scenes that would later be removed for future releases but were later included as part of the home video versions of Episodes 21 - 24.
Death(true) had minor differences from Death(true)² but this specific version was previously never available on home video.
The original TV broadcasts of Neon Genesis Evangelion had some alterations compared to the later home video releases, especially Episodes 21 - 24 which had scenes taken from Death (as well as one instance of a scene taken from The End of Evangelion in Episode 22') but the most notable difference are the sponsor tags for Kadokawa and Sega (the shows two sponsors).
Before 2015 came with these box sets, everything from the list there was lost media but the people over at Studio Khara released them on home video for the first time ever, and because of that, they are now found media.
