HOW??? HOW DID IT END UP IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL???

Ever since i saw the article MONTHS ago, this has been in the back of my mind, and has since re-entered my mind thanks to blameitonjorje's newest video. THIS DOESNT HAPPEN DAILY, FOLKS.

It's just so weird, for so long it was just gone, and it someone becomes found in a hospital for the mentally ill? Why?? Did the director donate it to them? Obviously not because he thought it was lost forever! Did the lab fire that destroyed the last copy NOT actually destroy the last copy and survived, and that lab turned into a mental hospital without them noticing the movie was there?? There's so many damn questions that will probably never be answered. This thing will drive me to brink..

According to Wikipedia, the copy ended there because the director of the Dikemark Hospital in Oslo was a historian, so he requested a copy, but there are no sources that back up that claim, so it can be just nonsense. We all agree that it is the weirdest place for some film canisters to be stored in. They were in a janitor's closet!

It really does just go to show that anything can happen. Given human unpredictability compounded over decades, these things really could be anywhere.

Honestly while this was a very odd find, stuff like this is not unheard of in the realm of Lost media. The deleted scenes of the film Event Horizon were supposedly found in a Transylvanian salt mine, a copy of Mickey Mouse in Vietnam was found in a scrap film bin, and God only knows how stuff like Salinger's Three stories and The Killdozer audio tapes found their way online.
Arguably the most interesting thing about Lost media is just how and where the media was found.

Similar situation with Wake in Fright, except it was the original master negatives that were nearly destroyed. And I agree with you on your last statement. The circumstances under which some pieces of lost media have been found is just as interesting as the idea of media becoming lost in the first place, if not more so.

I didn't know about the Tell-Tale Heart movie, that's insane too. Funnily enough it' s not the only movie adaptation of Poe's story that came out in 1953.
