(First post!)
So I was dicking around today and ended up learning about a series of allegations occurring between 1988 and 1991 connected to an event known as the Franklin Scandal. In brief, these were allegations that claimed that a large child sex ring that served the Nebraska elite not only existed but was headed by one Lawrence E King Jr, a politician and the owner of the now defunct Franklin Community Federal Credit Union (FCFCU). Both a Douglas County grand jury and a Federal grand jury found the claims to be unfounded. [More info here]
There seems to be little information on these allegations compared to other semi-high profile cases, especially info that isn't biased towards a certain side. From what I can gather, the case may have been heightened even further by the Satanic Panic of the 80s and 90s, as satanic rituals and cannibalism were also alleged.
To the point: There was a documentary produced after the trials about this event, produced by Yorkshire Television and funded by the Discovery Channel, that was set to air first in Great Britain and later on the US Discovery channel. However, shortly before the film was to be aired, Discovery pulled and reimbursed funding. This left the film unaired in both locations, and never aired subsequently on any television network. The film was known as Conspiracy of Silence.
A rough cut of the film can be found here. As far as a full, ready-to-be aired cut, I am unsure if production got up to that point, and all copies of the film were ordered to be destroyed (which makes it a miracle that we even got the rough at all), so that could technically be an unconfirmed and/or still missing piece of lost media.
Either way, I found this interesting so I thought I'd share
