2010s Sitcom scene where mom sneaks food into theater

I remember a scene from a sitcom where a mom took her kids to a movie theater (or sporting event, etc) and snuck food into her purse because she was too cheap to buy food. Unfortunately the food she packed wasn’t snack food and she tried to get her teenaged son (or daughter) to eat a tomato.
I always thought it was from The Middle, but now I don’t think it is. I’ve been rewatching the series on HBO Max over the past couple of months and I haven’t come across that scene (I suppose it could have happened when I zoned out for a minute).
This would have been early 2010s. Most likely an ABC or CBS show. It would be 2015 or 2016 at the absolute latest. There was an episode of The Middle where they did go to the movie theater and this gag did not appear. I know I saw this scene before that.
