I was browsing YouTube recently, looking for a YouTube video of the song ‘Chasing the Dragon’ by Epica. While doing this I stumbled across a lyric video featuring the storyboards and animatics of a film I cannot seem to identify.
I remember the clips seeming to play out a few of the events of a children’s / family animated fantasy film. The style roughly resembling Disney or even Pixar. Having story board footage of a young boy (clearly the main character), an old man (maybe his dad?), and a guy with a small pet dragon (who I assume is the villain).
The lyric video has a seemingly random handful of unfinished story boards; such as a scene where the main character creates a flying saucer out of a drawing, a little kid being told a bedtime story, the villain watching everyone through a telescope, the old man being chased down a hall by a large dragon, the villain holding a glowing (magical?) quill, the main character seeing shadows in the sky, and several more thrown-in scenes.
There’s also clips featuring the world of which the cast resides in, which appears to be a fantasy world, with centaur characters, goblins, giants, imps, and even a man who resembles Santa Claus. The description of the video gives a very, very brief overview of the basic plot, describing the story of a boy called Eddi and his ability to transform his drawings into reality. The short description ends with the words; ‘Someday this’ll be an animated film.’ It doesn’t seem to be an individual’s art project. It must’ve been made by a team or group because some of the animatics vary in style and roughness.
I honestly found the clips in the video to be interesting, and I desperately wanted to find out more. However, there seems to be no title attached to the unfinished footage. There is a small heading at the beginning of the video saying ‘Heroes and Monsters’, which I looked up and garnered zero relevant results. Not even when I added the word ‘film’ at the end or ‘animation’. I cannot seem to find any people connected to the animated film either, aside from the person who created the lyric video. I remember people in the comments of the video asking about the footage being shown, but the video creator has not yet responded to anyone’s queries. If anyone’s wondering, when I saw the video it was uploaded over ten years ago and only had just above 10k views. Not sure of this info will help very much.
If anyone can find any leads to what this film might be, who was behind it, where on earth the story boards originally came from, or any other information, that’d be great. Thanks!
