Does anyone know anything else about this Alaskan dub of Urusei Yatsura? Apparently, it aired sometime around the 1980s(supposedly 1988, to 1989), & had a couple of changes made to make it more "relatable" to Americans. Some people have theorized that this might be some kind of unofficial dub of sorts, but no one really knows for sure. Does anyone know anymore stuff about this? Maybe we could prove that this dub existed at one point .
I think that this might be a hoax. To me, the original post is too detailed and reads sort of like the author deliberately changed some details of the Urusei Yatsura setting so that it sounded like a convincing generic bad/weird English dub. And it isn't like the equally-weirdly-titled "Albert and Sidney" dub of Doraemon, as multiple people remembered that dub. It might be kind of old for a lost media hoax, but not so much that it is impossible.
Look up Alaskan newspaper archives of the era and search for the name. By the late '80s, early '90s most major newspapers had TV listings for the local channels and the major cable ones.

What if it was on a smaller cable channel though? Surely they have TV listings for those... right? Ok, maybe that's a stretch.
This allegedly aired in the late '80s to early '90s. Even in markets with large populations (which Alaska is not), most cable systems only had a few dozen channels at the max. It wasn't until the late '90s to early '00s, with the advent of digital cable, that the channel list exploded to a number newspapers couldn't keep up with. I suppose there is a chance this ran on an independent station that didn't submit their schedule info. It would help to know which part of Alaska this individual is from, if only to narrow down the possible channel list.
I am sceptical this exists, solely because Alaska is an odd market for an anime dub to show up exclusively in. The person telling us this story also seems to remember a lot, despite this happening nearly 30 years ago. Yes, Albert & Sidney is a thing - but as Scheepers pointed out, it was brought up by multiple Barbadians over the years. A similar story with the dub of The Bush Baby. There wasn't any footage of that until someone uploaded their home captures, but there were multiple people talking about it.

In a way, now that you say that, it reminds me of a case myself. I actually remember there being a YouTube video that showed gameplay footage of Crash Bandicoot 1 on the ORIGINAL Gameboy, yet I can't find that video anywhere! I'm not really sure if it even EXISTED, or not. Perhaps it was some weird fever dream. Cosma The Invader Girl really does remind me of that so well by how you said it. Like it was just one person who's ever talked about it, & in that way, it makes it sound fake.
It might be real, it might be fake, who the heck knows?
Kobochat has removed the article due to the noted reliability issues. I've removed a reference from Wikipedia.
Honestly though, Space Cats also has this issue, only that one actually exists... well, sort of. With that in mind, this dub might just be fake, & as for Space Cats, I'm not even sure if Paul Fusco HIMSELF would be a reliable source!
I agree this sounds fishy, but something supporting TurboGuppy's claims is that it is clear from their other posts that they actually live in Alaska, and that TurboGuppy made another post on the Urusei Yatsura wiki from an Alaskan IP address here, which seems like a genuine request for help: uruseiyatsura.fandom.com/wiki/Urusei_Yatsura_Wiki_talk:Community_Portal. However, TurboGuppy's posts show that they are an anime fan, which would explain why they decided to make this hoax if it was a hoax, and they were also an Archie Comics fan, explaining the "Reggie from Archie Comics" reference in the story (TBF from what I could gather, while Reggie in the Archie Comics does have a similar role as a rival to the protagonist the way Shutaro Mendou does, he's not super rich like Mendou is, so maybe the similarity is a coincidence)
Also, "Ronnie" (Shinobu's supposed name) seems like an odd choice, and given that Ataru's name was Ronnie in the French dub I could see TurboGuppy pulling it from that
Something else which doesn't add up to me is the theme song. The lyrics don't quite scan right to me, but TBF that could be because TurboGuppy doesn't remember it exactly.
Here's the reason I don't believe it's real: major pieces of information are left out. Namely, we don't know the station the dub supposedly aired on or which area of Alaska these viewers were in. Those details would make it easy to fact-check.
We could try to contact people who say they've heard of the show to see if we could get that information. TurboGuppy's Reddit account has been dormant for five years. He does seem to be familiar with Alaska, like tpsfv said. I PMed TurboGuppy.
We could also see if we could narrow down which stations would be able/willing to air a show like this. If they did it once, they've probably done it multiple times.

Oh yeah, that one too. Even freakin' SPACE CATS had that kind of information!!!

I'm trying to think of a case where we haven't had that info at the start of a search and found the lost media. I'm drawing a blank. We knew "Clock Man" was on Pinwheel. A Day with Spongebob had company information on its Amazon page.

I think that was the case for a bunch of Commodore 64 games by unknown developers, though with those games they just appeared on the internet at some unknown time, & again, nobody knows who made them.

Space Cats is lost? Cause I have 10 episodes I received in a trade.
And as for this Urusei Yatsura dub- highly, HIGHLY unlikely. The only US market to ever receive exclusive dubs was Hawaii, but thats because of the large Japanese ex-pat and Japanese American community there. And even then the only dubs I can think of are Mazinger Z and Ultraseven. Most other Japanese programs, such as Battle Fever J were just subtitled in English.

Woah, really? I hope you get the chance of uploading them soon because we're seriously missing about 21 episodes(15 of which have yet to be confirmed to even exist so far). Let me tell you, Space Cats is one of the strangest rabbit holes I've EVER gotten to experience myself. Like, trying to find information about it just led me to A LOT of questions, & ABSOLUTELY NO ANSWERS!!!
