It took some time to reach this point, but we finally had the chance to get in contact with Jeff Sweeney. lostaction and I managed to get his email, so there was an opportunity for us to ask him about the interstitial.
However, there wasn't a lot to recall from the production of the interstitial. (still, it was awesome to hear from him) Due to this, there are details that are stuck in the unknown like the names of the zookeeper and librarian lady.
Luckily, he provided us with a potential lead for further information, which is to contact Jamie Piekarz. When you try to connect the dots, you'd realize that she was the producer of "4 Square." And if I recall correctly, it was produced in the same year as "Osbert & Cush."
Better cross our fingers - all for the hopes of finding more info...and video content. As usual, finding these interstitials on a VHS is a gamble, so we're still stuck in the waiting game for that.
Here is the response we received from him:
"Hi
Good to hear that there's still interest in Osbert and Cush - makes me
smile!
I'm afraid I can't recall much of those shoots. They were done very
quickly and 20 years ago so there's been a lot of water under the bridge
since then. The shoot was done in three days - one at the farm, one at
the zoo and the last at the library. Because of ACTRA union rules, we
couldn't have the librarian or zookeeper speak much during the episodes
but yes, they were an actual librarian and zookeeper. I'm afraid I
don't recall their full names though.
The farm was an open petting farm north of Toronto. The zoo was a small
zoo - some thought it was the Toronto Zoo but not so. The library was
one of the Toronto branches, but again, I don't know which one.
Sorry to be unhelpful - what I do remember is that shooting in the lemur
enclosure was tons of fun, and elephants are HUGE! The interstitials
were produced by Jamie Piekarz, and she might be able to fill in the
blanks for you. I don't have permission to give out her email, but a
quick google search should help you find her at Apple TV.
Good luck!
jeff"
