Selfish vent post because I'm having a rough night.
What can't you do because of the virus?
For me it's attending a convention in febuary, I was going to attend ANE 2021 but that was cancelled aswell as basically all flights to the states in febuary with no signs of when I will ever be able to fly there again.
The convention isn't what I'm mad about though, it's more so I can't see my partner (we are long distance and use conventions to see eachother) No idea when I can fly out to the states to see her again but we are aiming for the summer of 2021. I hope.
My wedding was for May 16th, moved it to September 5th back when this all first hit, and in June I read the writing on the wall and moved it to July of next year. It sucks but what can we do? Everyone keeps asking "why not just get eloped?" but I did a lot to plan this event and all my venues/dj/photographer have been very accommodating, and deposits were already made last year.

That sounds really rough, But i do respect the fact that you are determined to continue the ceremony!

It was for awhile, but I accepted that there are just stuff outside of our control, which prior to virus I was really trying to control the wedding from not becoming a disaster in the first place. If only I knew then what I know now, oh well🤣
Yeah, me and him talked about it and we really decided that we're not worried about the officiality of our relationship, since we've been together since 2012. It's just about being able to celebrate it. Plus we wanna get off on the right foot, in the middle of a pandemic seems stressful in my opinion.

Hell of a story tho! Imagine people talking about bad weather at their wedding and you can say "Well we survived a global pandemic during our wedding!"

I feel like people are gonna look at wedding photos from the pandemic in years to come and think "that's crazy." Almost like how my grandma had her ration books for years and her kids used to take it show and tell.
I was planning on going to Universal Studios Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida for summer vacation this year, but the pandemic forced my family to cancel the trip and we had to spend the summer just hanging out with each other and all of my other family members, usually at home.
Though I am sad that I wasn't able to go to Universal this year, I am glad that I spent time with my family while staying safe from the pandemic. I am also happy that I have movies and TV shows to watch on DVD/Blu-Ray/streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix, video games, and books to read that keeps me entertained and provides me a form of escapism when I'm not busy with school work while the pandemic is still going on.

Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.

I work at a school and I really miss the kids. It’s just not the same doing virtual school. I also miss movie theaters. It’s the main thing I do with friends.

All of my film and art plans have gone out the window.
My team and I talked all last year about how we would likely go into production for some shorts and a full-length dogma 95 inspired film by February or so, and then the pandemic came and swept all of that down the river. The main head of our group [R] was on a podcast talking about one of his previous works, our production company, and how we were planning on going into production on the dogma 95 project by June. That went about as well as you could imagine. We had a call maybe two weeks ago to discuss potentially meeting up to catch up (since we haven't seen each other all year) and where we're going to take things from here. We're more than likely not going to do anything until next year, but R gave us [me and another friend, M] some great news about opportunities that came up and is sure we can make something work before the December comes around. I want to be an optimist and believe we'll make something happen, but I think the most we're going to get is M doing an edit of one of R's old short films for one of said opportunities that came our way and a two-day shoot is out of the question. I don't know how much I can disclose about what's going on, but I'll know tomorrow if the meet up happens and I can still go.
Every year, life seems to punch me and my team down for one reason or another. But 2020 really hit us where it hurt, and that sucks. It's a real mixed bag for us if we have to wait until next year to get things rolling. On one hand, we'll probably be safer if the pandemic simmers down. On the other, depending on when we go into production, it's going to be hard or impossible for me to work since I'm slated to have major surgery in February and I'm going to be useless on the set if I'm not doing script supervising, maintenance, or other small potatoes bits. Thankfully everyone is understanding, but I'd rather not bog us down with not being able to do heavy lifting or having a major range of motion.

I also miss going to the movies. My state does drive ins which I'd love to try but they charge too much for old movies.
