While going through defunct and mostly lost virtual pet sites, this one really stuck out at me. It was a mad scientist/fantasy game of the growing adoptable genre. It specifically looks like the feed to grow kind. I never played this when it was active, but it seems like something I would have really enjoyed, since I do like steampunk and petsites with heavy lore.
It looks like a good couple chunks of the website were preserved via the Wayback Maclinkhine. The wiki also has a lot preserved, and while searching I saw that people were trying to add to it shortly after the site went down. TVtropes has some stuff too. Then I found what looks like a copy + paste of the FAQ, which contains more information (and is less broken than the preserved version).
There was also an ongoing story that seemed to have been mostly preserved with the Wayback Machine, but I haven't gone through it yet. It does seem interesting though. I saw mention that someone was trying to preserve all of the lore books, but I wasn't able to find a link to where these might be posted and they don't seem to be on the wiki.
Then I also found a personal Worldpress website which contains a lot of information and includes what the pets would have looked like in signatures.
Also any petsite that has an ant is good in my book.
It looks like every pet had variations of vital/natural/tainted once they reached their final state. The FAQ seems to imply that this stage depends on what food type they eat.
I also saw shiny pets referenced, but it seems like most of the shiny variations are lost? The wordpress website does contain a section for the owner's shiny pets. It seems to be like Pokemon in that they're rarer versions that you can hatch if you're really lucky.
You could also add trinkets to pets, and I found a screenshot which includes what the pet page looked like with a trinket.
There were also factions, which you could join with reputation points.

It definitely seems to be one of the better preserved petsites out there and it didn't seem to be obscure in the slightest, but chunks of information are still lost. I also don't think there's any way to access what the site would look like if registered unless there are more screenshots. Although I could definitely be missing some stuff, like I mentioned I never played this and I only found out about this later and grew interested.
So what are your thoughts on this? Did anyone play this when it was active?
