First there was Cracks, then Clockman, and then finally Plugman. Well, I also have something of my own that fits into this whole "something on the wall" theme.
This is something that I've been wanting to see again for years.
Background:
I've wondered about this for.. I'm guessing around 16-18 years now? It just pops into my head from time to time, and I think about it probably at least a few times a year. For those of you wondering, I'm 24 years old. Over the years the details have gotten fuzzy where I don't know if certain things actually happened or if my mind has made certain things up due to it being so long ago, so I think it's time I start talking about this now before what I DO remember (which is not a lot, unfortunately) becomes lost.
I was just a kid and I'm guessing it was either morning or noon, and I walked into the living room, probably bored. My dad had something on TV, and I think he was in the kitchen, so I was probably the only one in the room. I only watched for a short period of time before I left to go do something else. This was a live-action Movie or TV show, not sure which. All I know is that it wasn't anything animated. My dad really, really likes horror stuff, so there's a good chance it may have been a horror movie. Now, me watching any kind of movie is kind of a rare thing. Like, I've hardly watched any movies at all my whole life. Was just never interested I guess. All I used to watch all the time was Cartoon Network and some Nick here and there. My point is that whatever this is, it may not even be from some obscure movie that nobody has ever heard of. It could be from something well-known! It could also not even be from a movie, but from a TV show instead. I'd say that I probably saw this anywhere between... 2002-2004 maybe? Whatever it was, it most likely had to have been made in 2004 or earlier.
And before anyone asks, no it is not the 2013/2016 "Lights Out" films, because they were made waaay after this. Unfortunately they're like the only thing that shows up when I tried to search anything about this. They're kinda similar though in that they're the only thing I can find that's about having tape on a lightswitch. I'd give them a watch but I don't like horror, heh. Would definitely make an exception though if they were actually what I was looking for. Anyway, moving on...
What I Saw:
There was a little bit of stuff that happened when I first started watching that I don't really remember that well anymore, so I'll get to that in a minute.
What I'll talk about first is what I remember the most. Basically, the camera was zoomed in on a lightswitch. The lightswitch had black(?) tape on it and I can't remember whether the switch was taped to the 'On' or 'Off' position. Whatever position it was taped in, the switch was slowly moving in the opposite direction, pulling the tape with it all by itself. Nobody was touching it. It was a camera shot that only lasted maybe 5 seconds at most. I think the reason that this whole thing stuck with me was because of the tape and the switch's movement. Why was it taped at all? Why did it move by itself? Given that I didn't know the context of the movie/show, it kinda gave off a scary vibe that something bad was going to happen whenever it reached the opposite position. What I think happened in the camera shots that happened before and after this part only add to that feeling more.
The details of the first and last camera shots are where I have pretty much no memories. I have no idea if the following details even happened or if my mind is making them up, or if they are even in the right order.
In the first camera shot, it showed more of the room the switch was in. There were probably people in the shot, but I don't remember anything about them. Maybe a man and a woman? Or just two men? There may have even been more than just two people. I think there may have been a door on the right side of the room and someone was trying to hold it shut? This room may have been some kind of bathroom too, but I have no idea.
The last camera shot was similar to the first one, and is the one I'm most unsure of. This time, I think the room was shaking? Like maybe an earthquake? Or maybe it was something bad happening relating to the switch? I think whoever was in the room was panicking as well, and the lights in the room may have started having trouble staying on due to the shaking. That's really all I remember about this.
I have actually made two rough drawings that may help some of you identify this. I have attached them to this post. Please excuse my awful drawing skills and handwriting.
Conclusion:
For a tl;dr, I guess I'm looking for a live-action Movie or TV show that was made no later than 2004 that has some kind of scene in it that involves a taped lightswitch moving by itself. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? I guess that's why it's stuck with me.
Huge thank you to anyone who can help me find this.
