"Cartoon Lost and Found", An Early 90's Nick at Nite Special

Really great news, someone on Twitter got me in contact with the guy from the sitcom forums and he confirms he still has the special!

It'll take a little time and money but I think we can get this thing in our hands and ripped online so I'll keep everyone updated with the progress.

Ok so it appears that Warner Brothers removed or blocked the SOLE REMAINING EVIDENCE of Cartoon Lost and Found, sadly probably because I alerted them to it's existence with this search, and now I feel like Ephialtes.

Thankfully, I saved the Part 1 video from YT before it was shot down, so at least evidence of it's existence hasn't been completely culled, Warner Brothers be damned. This does however raise an interesting question because it seems odd they would go out of their way to shut down a single, random video with a few minutes form a lost tv special from 1989 on it. The tin foil hat side of me says maybe there is some actual logic behind it. Someone mentioned on LSSQ's video about the show that it's possible the series/special/whatever was never re-aired because they realized they didn't have rights to the cartoons on it after all, and perhaps this is kind of confirming this. Maybe trying to hide it so that the people who own the rights don't realize they aired it and come asking for money?

Just a theory.

Don't bother with dailymotion or vimeo, straight to archive.org with it. Less likely to get taken down by corporations.

So Viacom bought Nickelodeon in 1985, Warner bought Hannah Barbera in 1996, and this show aired sometime in the early 90s. Why do I bring this up? Simply because I doubt Viacom was careless in airing cartoons they had no rights to, unless we have some kind of instance where they did this in the past. Back before Warner bought Looney Tunes, the shorts used to air on Nickelodeon. I bring up the Turner acquisition because Snagglepus and Top Cat are Hannah Barbera properties, which means this show was probably airing before they were acquired by Warner.

I'm not sure where I'm getting with this, but maybe the show was shut down because of Warner, who might have actually borrowed the concept "are old cartoons profitable?" for the Cartoon Network. I'm not sure why that video was taken down, although maybe it's now getting more attention than it was previously, and youtube flagged it for copyright due to that.

Whoops, got some facts wrong. So Ted Turner (I kept getting his name confused with Warner) bought Hannah Barbera in 1991, and made Cartoon Network in 1992. Warner bought Turner in 1996. But, before 96 Turner did license out the shows he bought. But was he still when Cartoon Network was conceived? I just don't think so, but I could be wrong.

I've also been really busy lately so I haven't contacted the guy with the whole copy yet but I can do that soon. It also occurred to me that even when I get it, I don't have the equipment to rip it online so I'll have to send it to someone else who can do that.

Also I believe the guy said he was going to send a DVD of it and not his original tape, which is okay but I'm not sure if that makes ripping it any easier.
