"Cartoon Lost and Found", An Early 90's Nick at Nite Special

Awesome find!

Pretty ironic that this special covering "lost" cartoons is itself partially lost. I agree that a page should be made on it on the wiki, and maybe we can find the team who worked on the special? Even though it is 30 years old, I'm sure we can scour around and find the people who worked on it

Well, that lasted all of a minute. I did the best I could, but to be honest when I saw the instructions as to how to make a page it was...behemothic. I apologize for not making one correctly. If anyone else maybe can, my one request is to perhaps mention me, or maybe I will be able to try again eventually who knows lol

This topic really caught my interest so I thought I'd make an effort to get some new info and leads.

First, I was looking through the comments section of the promos on YouTube and found that at one point the whole special had apparently been posted

It seems like Part 1 and Part 2 were uploaded by different users so contacting these active channels won't get us anywhere. I'm not sure if it's possible to retrieve any information from dead YouTube links but if anyone can we could ask this user if they still have a copy of it.

Second, if these YouTube leads fail I was able to contact someone who worked on the programming of Nick at Nite during the late 80s and early 90s. I'm thinking they might be familiar with the special and at least be able to tell us why it was made in the first place. From watching the promos you'd think it was a block similar to Toonheads or something like that but with the way it's structured that doesn't appear to be the case.

This is a really cool topic and I'm hoping we can get more people on board to help find the whole thing.

Edit- found a couple more interesting things

I did a really specific Google search and it pulled up a local newspaper from Utah on October 19th, 1989. You can't view it without an account but the text has been rewritten on the page- www.newspapers.com/newspage/469618199/

In short it says that Nick at Nite discovered bunch of old cartoons in the dark recesses of the T.V. Land building and has hired Adam West to look over them, going on to confirm the special aired on Sunday, October 29th at 8:30pm. I'm not sure how much of this is fact and how much of it is plot written for the special but the guy I contacted actually listed TV Land and Nick at Nite on his resume so I'm thinking maybe this whole thing was his creation and came from the fact that they actually did find all these abandoned cartoons?

The other thing I found were some conversations from 6 years ago that talked about interesting finds on YouTube- one of the users mentions Cartoon Lost and Found. They posted those two links from the screenshot I posted above but what's interesting is that someone else claims the now-deleted Part 2 isn't actually Part 2 from the special but something else that must have been accidentally mixed in. Also someone else claims that the show was indeed a one time special and not a block or a series or anything like that.

I'm starting to believe it really was a single special that came from the fact that they found all these old cartoons and had nothing else to do with them but it's kinda weird this is only one special considering all the material they had to work with and with the way its structured. It really feels more like a block or a series in itself and with how little is known about it I wouldn't have been surprised if more episodes or clips existed outside of the ones we know about.

I just did a quick Google search, and apparently this person had it at some point. They're even still active on that site
