I recall when I was a little kid (early ‘90’s) seeing a cartoon (most likely a movie) where a cat disguised as a bobcat/lynx kitten by being covered in dirt. I want to say the bobcat/lynx dad was anthropomorphic by standing on two legs and wearing clothes, but lived in the forest.
The animation style was similar to limited animation from the ‘60’s or ‘70’s. For the longest time I always thought this was a subplot form “Gay Purr-ee” but now I doubt it, but it was certainly animated in that style.

I’m bumping up this thread because I finally solved this life long mystery. It’s a movie called “Peter No Tail in America”. This You Tube video is a recording from the Disney channel which is almost certainly where I saw it. The scene I’m specifically remembering starts around 1:10:00.
How did you find it? Seems like a weird thing to air on Disney channel, but okay.
I typed “cat disguised as lynx cub cartoon” into google, and came across an entry on the villains wiki for the lynx. Since he looked like what I remembered I searched for the movie.
I’m glad because this scene has been living rent free in my head for nearly 30 years. At least I now know I didn’t dream it up. Plus the way somebody found the Neptune cartoon inspired me to find other obscure scenes that I can’t figure out.
