Dave Hope's Flickr account has a picture from a currently largely unidentified episode of Boohbah (you can see it here). We speculate that it may have been a screenshot or test photo for an unfinished episode called "Sweet Tea" (or "The Jar"), but it also means that there were at least a few episodes that were cancelled halfway through production and replaced with other ones (I'm not counting "Falling Oranges", which was finished and broadcast after three largely unsuccessful shooting attempts, and "Springy Sofa", which was shot during production of the first series, but for some reason not aired until the second series).
Is there any more information about - and photos from - potential unfinished episodes out there and, if anyone here has connections to anyone (at Ragdoll) who worked on Boohbah, can you reach out to them and see if they have any in their possession?
A user on the Boohbah Wiki reached out to a producer at Ragdoll Productions about the "Sweet Tea" image, and this is what that producer said back:
[Looking] at the image I would imagine it was a test shot.
In developing the Story World sequences it was important that all the elements to each of the stories were clear and defined. We spent a long-time finding locations and testing the colour of props and costumes to make sure all elements worked.
I'm assuming that the crew shot test footage and photos before actual filming began to make sure the elements of a particular segment worked. Could there be more such stuff and cancelled/altered episode concepts?
