Created this new article. I wanted to do this for a long time!!
So, I first heard of this show in an old kid magazine I read when I was barely 7 years-old... I was fascinated by the puppets and the "cool" mention of TV technology! (remember I am an 1980s child)
Absolutely NO FOOTAGE of this kid show has ever shown up on the Internet. And even if you do a Google search, you will only find uploads of the theme song, which was sold on a record.
The record:
The theme song:
A fan rendition of how the show's opening could have looked like (NOT actual footage from the show):
It seems this show has not resurfaced for a reason... after reading promotional articles, apparently it suffered for not living up to the standards set by the previous works of the creator, Christophe Izard.
Christophe Izard, who was famous for doing super-popular kid shows (almost mythical) in the 1970s and the early 1980s. Truly a tough act to follow.
Plus, it relied on a gimmick that was inspired by a modern trend... not a very good omen. (although 1980s nostalgia fans can make you see things differently)
There is this cool channel I follow, YoupiLa5animation, that has a lot of footage from 80s and 90s French kid TV (including a lot of French-dubbed American cartoons).
And lo and behold, it just recently uploaded a TV spot featuring Zappeur!! Actual footage, and we hear him speak! Zappeur:"For me, Zappeur, the king of channel surfing... there is only one."
Jingle song: "There is only one, it is the One! (it is the One)"
