I think because of the BBC maybe have the practice of destroying old reels for storage space. That's why the old episodes of Doctor who are now lost media And also the first live tv performance of The Beatles is lost. I think the OG Pinky and perky episodes are now lost only one of them only public viewing on YouTube. That's why after finding out the missing Doctor who episodes are now destroyed. They created their own archive to never to be happening ever again in the modern day. It's my theory I guess.
