The MMO that was finished. The MMO we were promised. Gone.

So let's get down to business. I'm talking about the Massive Multiplayer Online experience known as Cartoon Network's FusionFall.
Specifically its alpha build.
So a lot of you have probably played FusionFall before. Whether as kids or maybe even recently with its re-release by the team behind FusionFall Retro: www.fusionfallretro.com/
But I'm willing to bet you didn't know that there was an entirely different version of the game that was to my knowledge playable and almost finished if not entirely completed.
FusionFall as it looks today: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYpYsGkfgtM FusionFall's alpha: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEQFXvEUlV0
The game was slated for release in 2008, however there was an open Alpha Test at Comic Con (and maybe E3?) in 2008 which featured this early version of the game running on the Gamebryo engine.

That being said most people who have played FusionFall will be quick to tell you that it runs on Unity. It was known for being the first large scale MMO to be developed for the Unity engine.
But that's just not the case. You see FusionFall wasn't developed specifically for Unity... It was an overhauled and almost entirely redone port from Gamebryo.
That being said it's actually believed that the Gamebryo version may have been a lot smoother and optimized, because it was designed with the engine in mind over a longer time.
When porting FusionFall to Unity the process took around 6 months. Just in time for it's open beta testing of late 2008.
Once the game released it wouldn't be long before the company behind FusionFall's development (Grigon Entertainment) would end up going under.
Grigon are the people we want to get a hold of here. But it's not gonna be easy because to my knowledge Grigon has been out of the industry for some time. On top of that they're a Korean company so communication might not be easy...
But I would like to give it try. If anybody is going to have old files/code/the game itself it's gonna be them, or Cartoon Network who thus far have not really enjoyed talking about FusionFall.
Help me find the original FusionFall. This exists. We know it exists. We have the proof and we know the people. Something has gotta come out soon.
More to come.
