Filmed in 1979 following the popularity of Halloween a year prior, A Night to Dismember was produced and directed by Doris Wishman who mostly had experience doing sexploitation, grindhouse style films. The film went through production hell for quite some time, with Wishman stating that some reels were destroyed in a lab processing fire and had to be re-shot. Along with this, the original lead actress was replaced during production supposedly after the previous reels had been destroyed. However, in 2018, Bloody Disgusting reported that a master copy of the original cut had been uploaded to Youtube, which had been in the possession of the film's cinematographer, C. Davis Smith. The story behind it is a strange rabbit hole, and was way more complicated than I thought.
