I’ve wondered about this for a sometime now. But has there ever been any deleted scenes to Peter Jackson’s 2009 film The Lovely Bones? Could this fit in the lost film category? There were scenes that aren’t in the film. For the trailer there’s a scene between Susie Salmon and her mother Abigail with the charm bracelet, Susie and Holly at the beach while in the In-Between from what to be appearing snowing slightly, lastly there’s a shot of Susie running in the woods and it appears she must’ve dropped a ship in a bottle. As it’s about to ignite in flames. Even in the commercials there’s a shot of Susie in the afterlife holding the snow globe with the penguin inside it. Another shot showed Susie in her room holding the globe. Some of these stills can be seen online. In the making of featurette there’s an extended montage scene in the In-Between with Susie and Holly. Then there was the original ending where Mr. Harvey dies after falling off the cliff. But test audiences didn’t like it and preferred him to die in a much more painful way. Jackson had to change it just before the film was released. At r/TrueFilm on Reddit there’s a post from two years ago that’s titled “Anyone Happen to Remember The Lovely Bones” by TLBFanEdit. (Link: www.reddit.com/r/TrueFilm/comments/6ns3hf/anyone_happen_to_remember_the_lovely_bones/) Which the poster explains there was a much longer cut of the film that was test screened for an audience months before even it was released. Since he or she is a fan of the Alice Sebold novel of which the movie is based on explaining about the weird edits that are in the film, the poster hasn’t been active after he/she posted it. I even remembered reading an earlier draft online on my iPhone sometime back in October 2016 (Link: www.dailyscript.com/scripts/The_Lovely_Bones_script.pdf) which had a scene with Gilbert a neighbor who lives nearby where Mr. Harvey's introduced basically the scene where he's cutting roses to give to Susie's parents while she's riding on a bike, a longer scene of Jack going through the mall and around town to find anyone who last seen Susie before she disappeared, a scene where Harvey kills a dog belonging to family at a park and a woman screams upon discovering it and a scene in the In-Between depicting a western style shoot out between Susie’s father Jack and Mr. Harvey dressed up as cowboys while Susie and Holly watch. In an interview with Stanley Tucci, he said that there was a scene filmed but wasn’t used in the final film. Where George Harvey sees Lindsay out through the window. From what I’ve heard they’d shot the affair with the mother and detective. I made a post on Reddit about the scenes not shown in the film. Got 0 votes from it as of now I've currently deleted it. jperezmorales commented saying that it usually happens before the final cut. I don’t know if that’s true or not.
