Hey everyone,
I'm somewhat new to this forum, and I know this may be a strange thing to talk about, but it's something that's been on my mind for a while, and I feel like this is the best place to get my thoughts out.
I don't know what it is about lost media/old public domain VHS tapes/obscure things from our childhood that I like so much, but I've grown increasingly fascinated with it over the years. Even looking at those video compilations of old public domain VHS openings gives me this combination of nostalgia, curiosity, and even a little bit of creepiness. I'm not really sure why, and it's hard to put my finger on the precise emotion I get from watching/looking for this stuff, but it's just great. There seems to be a common thread running through all my interests in this regard: old things with somewhat mysterious origins. Sometimes it's the very oldness of the thing that makes it all the more mysterious or even creepy. Just think about some of those old silent films with the low-grade special effects. Something about that just gives me a sense of special fascination and intrigue.
Like this video from cinemassacre for instance talking about old VHS art. I know it seems so obscure and out of left field, but I could just watch it over and over. There's something about the feeling from the video that I like.

The blameitonjorge clock man video is also a good example of this. Obviously on its face, there's nothing scary about that video, but there's still something so creepily fascinating about the story of the search for that lost cartoon.
I especially get this feeling from watching old cartoons from the thirties and forties, particularly the more surreal ones like the shorts from Fleischer studios.
Am I making any sense here? Or do I just sound crazy? Does anyone relate to what I'm talking about?
